Every year our society awards the Jones VC Trophy to an individual (or family) who have made a significant voluntary contribution to the community of Finchampstead. Over the years there have been many awards for people who have left a lasting legacy on our community, indeed the silver-gilt bowl has their names engraved on it.
For new members this year or as a memory jog recall that the bowl was given to The Finchampstead Society by Mrs Ruth de Courcey-Ireland in 1984 and had been presented by Finchampstead villagers to Col and Mrs Jones in 1913 on the occasion of their golden wedding.
Since 1984 it has been presented on 29 occasions.
The committee of the Finchampstead Society will make arrangements for choosing to whom the 2016 award will be made. The decision will be announced at the Society’s annual general meeting on 18 March 2016. Nominations should reach the secretary of the Society no later than Friday, 26 February 2016.
The only request is that we exclude serving members of the Finchampstead committee.
Participation is important so please give this some thought, if you would believe someone merits this award for their contribution to the Finchampstead community, please send your nomination by email to:
Julian Le Patourel,
Secretary, The Finchampstead Society
